Randy Brittain had no prior automotive experience when he decided to go into the fast lube business in the mid 1980s. He attended trade shows and poured himself into learning about oil change operations prior to opening Brittain’s Express Oil and Lube in December of 1986. Randy, and now his son John, continue to expand their automotive maintenance education to this day. John Brittain has been working in the oil business since he was 15 years old and continued on a part time basis through high school and college. He became the full time General Manager of the Oil and Lube in 2008. In 2017, John purchased the oil change business from his father, continuing the Brittain’s Express Oil and Lube business into a second generation of ownership.
In 2004 the neighboring car wash was purchased to offer their customers additional car maintenance services. Randy oversaw an extensive renovation and improvement to the wash facility in 2005. In 2018, when Randy retired, he sold the car wash to his good friends, Mike and Laurel Warren, who had originally owned the car wash prior to 2004.
The Brittain family strives to provide quality, friendly and expeditious service to all of their customers. This is the foundation their business is built on. You can see John on any given day helping customers, changing wiper blades or replacing an oil filter at Brittain’s Express Oil and Lube.
The Brittain family is proud to call the Elgin area home and is very involved in the local community. They all believe it is their obligation to give back to the community that supports their business operations.
